Prof. Ricardo Haussmann from Harvard's Kennedy School Delivered a Lecture

This week, we welcomed renowned expert, Prof. Ricardo Haussmann, the founder and director of Harvard's Growth Lab, who is currently teaching Economics at Harvard's Kennedy School.

Prof. Hausmann delivered a talk titled "The Secret to Sustainable Growth in Azerbaijan: Insights from Economic Complexity and Green" and provided a detailed presentation on a wide range of topics, including international income differentials and carbon emission reduction measures.

While answering the topic of what Azerbaijan's strategic setting is and how to manage the transition to achieve new development drivers in non-oil, Prof. Hausmann summarised his recommendation to our country:

"Azerbaijan must make strategic bets in longer-term growth sectors and expand into new enterprises with global demand, such as oil. Diversification requires a certain set of capabilities, including state capability, to coordinate investment in new areas.”
