A Joint Event on the Study and Preservation of Historical and Cultural Heritage was Held
On March 14–15, we hosted a conference, "The Study and Preservation of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Turkic World from the Perspective of UNESCO," organized by the Turkic Academy, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, the National Commissions of Azerbaijan and Türkiye for UNESCO, in collaboration with esteemed partners including the Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States, and TİKA.
Moderated by ADA University's Vice-Rector and Institute for Development and Diplomacy's Director, Fariz Ismailzade, the conference brought together keynote speakers including the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Adil Karimli, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Secretary General of TURKSOY, Sultan Raev, and the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Aktoty Raimkulova.
The President of the Turkic Academy, Shahin Mustafayev, Chairman of the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO, Ocal Oguz, President of the Atatürk Institute of Culture, Language, and History, Darya Ors, Head of the Azerbaijan Tourism Agency, Fuad Naghiyev, and Chairman of the Board of the “Icharishahar” State Historical and Architectural Reserve, Shahin Seyidzade were also among the keynote speakers.
The president of the 42nd session of the General Conference, Simona Mirela Miculescu, addressed the event participants in video format.
The conference also featured speeches delivered by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Isa Habibbeyli, and the President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, Muzaffer Sheker.
The conference, featuring thematic sessions, roundtable discussions, and presentations covering a spectrum of topics, including successful and innovative approaches in UNESCO's preservation efforts, brought together cultural heritage departments of various organizations and national institutions.
At the conclusion of the two-day event, a joint declaration was proclaimed on the study and preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the Turkic world from the perspective of UNESCO.
The document includes a range of commitments aimed at working closely with UNESCO and other international organizations. These commitments focus on implementing relevant conventions, standards, and programs to recognize and protect the historical and cultural heritage of the Turkic world, which includes the shared history, traditions, and cultural elements of Turkic peoples across different regions.
