‘Global Perspectives Lecture Series’ - H.E. Mr. Haitham Al Ghais, Secretary General of OPEC
Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Haysam Al-Qais held a seminar within the traditional Global Perspectives Lecture Series of the Institute of Development and Diplomacy operating under ADA University.
Haysam Al-Qays, who made his first visit to Azerbaijan as part of the OPEC Secretary General's mandate, delivered a lecture entitled "OPEC, OPEC+ and the world in transition" at ADA University.
The lecture was held with the participation of representatives of various institutions, experts, researchers and students.
During the lecture, General Secretary Al-Qays spoke about the important role played by OPEC and OPEC+ countries in the constantly developing dynamics of the global energy system. He emphasized the necessity of meeting the world's energy needs and reducing emissions, including strengthening energy security and achieving decarbonization goals.
Stating that despite the significant increase in global energy demand, the problem of energy shortage remains relevant, Al-Qays spoke about the role of young talents in successfully directing the new energy policy. "We need to convey the energy industry's contributions to our world and its invaluable role in shaping our future to the masses," he added.
In the lecture, the successful cooperation between OPEC+ countries and Azerbaijan was also discussed, Azerbaijan's contributions to the energy sector were highly appreciated, and the mutual benefits obtained from the promotion of such partnerships were noted. The lecture continued in the form of questions and answers and discussion.
