‘Global Perspectives Lecture Series’ - Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif, Executive Director of UN-Habitat
ADA University recently hosted a compelling lecture as part of its 'Global Perspectives Lecture' series, featuring Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif, the Executive Director of UN-Habitat. The event, held on December 22, 2023, focused on the pressing challenges in creating sustainable and resilient cities.
The lecture kicked off with an opening speech by ADA University Vice-Rector and IDD Director, Dr. Fariz Ismailzade. Dr. Ismailzade highlighted the significance of nurturing a new generation of experts dedicated to building sustainable urban environments.
During the engaging session, Ms. Maimunah Mohd Sharif and Committee Chairman Anar Guliyev provided invaluable insights into global urbanism trends and contemporary approaches to shaping urban spaces. Furthermore, both speakers shared information on collaborative projects and partnerships between Azerbaijan and UN-Habitat in recent years. Of particular note was the announcement that Baku would host the prestigious World Urban Development Forum (WUF13) in 2026, marking a significant achievement for the country.
