The roundtable is part of a broader initiative to enhance awareness of the Council of Europe and Azerbaijan's partnership. Within the framework of this initiative, the Azerbaijan Council of Europe Office in Baku hosted a webinar on judicial and legal matters and broadcasted video interviews of its staff and the representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe on its social media accounts.
Deputy Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Bjorn Berge made the statement during a video message to the participants: "Both the Council of Europe and Azerbaijan demonstrate their commitment to cooperation and joint work over the past 20 years. Azerbaijan has partially joined the agreements nine times".
Bjorn Berge also spoke about the recent ratification of the Lanzarote Convention (the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children from Sexual Violence and Sexual Acts). He stressed the importance of this step for the health and well-being of the current and future generations.
