The training program has started for the Secretaries-General and Representatives of the National Commissions for UNESCO
The training carried out by the Institute's Executive Education Program brought together the Secretaries-General and Representatives of the National Commissions for UNESCO from 10 African countries.
The program aims to further develop cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and African nations within the framework of UNESCO, raise awareness of our country in the region, and to disseminate information about restoration and construction projects in our liberated lands.
Fariz Ismailzade, Vice Rector of ADA University and Director of the Institute for Development and Diplomacy (ADA University), Farhad Hajiyev, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of the Azerbaijan Republic, and Seymur Fataliyev, Secretary-General of the National Commission of the Azerbaijan Republic for UNESCO, all spoke at the opening ceremony of training program. Dr. Rita Bissoonauth, Director of the UNESCO Liaison Office in Ethiopia, and Aygun Hajiyeva, Advisor to the Vice Rector for Government and External Affairs at ADA University and Deputy Director of the Institute for Development and Diplomacy, also delivered speeches.
In his welcome remarks, Dr. Fariz Ismailzade emphasized that this training strengthens cooperation and bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and the National Commissions of African countries for UNESCO.
Seymur Fataliyev, Secretary-General of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO stated that our country is an important and reliable donor partner for UNESCO and plays a unique role in promoting the organization's principles and values.
Farhad Hajiyev, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, mentioned about the UNESCO Global Sports Conference that will be held in Baku, in this June and stressed that this high-level event will take the form of an intergovernmental meeting when discussing the international conferences hosted by our country.
Dr. Rita Bissoonauth discussed the new Operational Strategy for the years 2022 to 2029, which was determined jointly by UNESCO member countries and the organization's African group. Dr. Bissoonauth emphasized that the Operational Strategy includes five innovative programs tailored to the seven objectives of the African Union Agenda for 2063 and the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
Aygun Hajiyeva, Deputy Director of the Institute for Development and Diplomacy, mentioned the institute's activities in her speech and noted that the participants of the training will be able to expand their knowledge of Azerbaijan and establish new professional relationships during their visit to our country.
