The second Capacity Building Program for Secretaries-General and Representatives of the National Commissions for UNESCO in African countries has ended.
On April 12, the training program jointly organized by ADA University, the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO and the Institute for Development and Diplomacy (ADA University) was completed. The training carried out by the Institute's Specialization Program brought together the general secretaries of the UNESCO national commissions of Benin, Niger, Togo, Burkina-Faso, Guinea, Gabon, Djibouti, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Equatorial Guinea.
At the final closing ceremony of the Training Program held today, Vice Rector for Government, External and Student Affairs, ADA University and Director, Institute for Development and Diplomacy as well as General Secretary of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO Seymur Fataliyev presented the certificates to the participants.
Aygun Hajiyeva, Advisor to the Vice-Rector for Government and External Affairs of ADA University and Deputy Director at the Institute for Development and Diplomacy, delivered a presentation on the conclusion of the program and stated that African diplomats gained extensive knowledge about our country through the lectures of high-authority guest speakers invited from state institutions and ADA University professors and teachers.
This program benefits the development of friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and African countries," said Vice Rector Fariz Ismailzade, expressing hope that the participants will serve to expand relations between the region they represent and our country.
General Secretary of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO Seymur Fataliyev expressed his gratitude to the participants representing Africa for participating in the Program despite the long distance between our regions: "We are sure that you will share your impressions of the training program with UNESCO and your colleagues from other African countries."
It should be noted that since the main goal of the Program is to further develop the cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and African countries within the framework of UNESCO, the participants attended meetings with the participation of ministers in a number of state institutions in order to obtain comprehensive information about the cultural heritage, history, and position of our country in the region. they visited historical places and museums, as well as our cultural capital Shusha.
The participants, who met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov on April 4 within the framework of the program, discussed the issues on the cooperation agenda within the framework of UNESCO.
On April 5, the Secretaries-General met with the Chairman of the International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations Committee of the Parliament, Samad Seyidov, and Deputy Chair of the Parliament Committee for International and Inter-Parliamentary Relations, Sevinj Fataliyeva and got detailed information about the composition, structure and activity of the Azerbaijani parliament.
The participants who met with the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev on April 10 were informed about Azerbaijan's experience in ensuring accessibility and quality at all levels of education.
