Insightful Lecture by Acting Director of UNEP’s Europe Office
Throughout the COP29 year, IDD continued to organize lecture series following Azerbaijan’s preparations for the Conference of Parties.
We invited Sylvie Motard, Acting Director of UNEP’s Europe Office, to discuss multilateralism in achieving climate resilience and sustainability.
Our guest discussed global practices while promoting multilateralism as a useful instrument for living in a stable world and reaching sustainable development goals.
The discussion was followed with questions addressed by students.
The lecture explored the vital role of multilateral cooperation in addressing climate change, emphasizing the importance of collective action and international partnerships in building climate resilience and achieving sustainable development goals.
Participants discussed the critical role of multilateral institutions such as the United Nations and international agreements like the Paris Agreement in coordinating global climate efforts and ensuring equitable participation from all countries. Examples of successful multilateral projects were highlighted, demonstrating how international collaboration has led to significant advancements in climate resilience and sustainability.
Mr. Motard provided insights on how countries can strengthen their multilateral engagements, including strategies for effective diplomacy, leveraging financial and technical support, and fostering inclusive dialogue.
