IDD Water Diplomacy Series: Panel Discussion at Baku Water Week Conference
On March 14, 2024, the Institute for Development and Diplomacy (IDD) at ADA University, in collaboration with the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan, hosted a pivotal panel discussion as part of the Baku Water Week Conference. This event, integral to the IDD's Water Diplomacy Series, convened experts and stakeholders to address pressing challenges in water resource management amid climate change.
The Baku Water Week, held from March 12-14, 2024, at the Baku Expo Center and The Ritz-Carlton Baku hotel, marked Azerbaijan's inaugural international exhibition and conference dedicated to water management. Supported by the State Water Resources Agency, the event attracted approximately 90 companies from 16 countries, including Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Israel, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, Switzerland, Türkiye, and the United States.
The panel discussion, titled "Climate Change and Water Resource Management Challenges," provided a platform for in-depth dialogue on sustainable water management practices, technological innovations, and policy reforms essential for ensuring water security in Azerbaijan and the broader region. Participants emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies to effectively address water scarcity and enhance resilience against climate impacts.
This collaborative effort between IDD and the State Water Resources Agency underscores Azerbaijan's commitment to advancing water diplomacy and fostering sustainable development.
