IDD Hosted a Lecture by UN Assistant Secretary-General
Mr. Marcos Athias Neto, the UN Assistant Secretary-General, the UNDP Assistant Administrator, and the Director of the Bureau for Policy and Programme Support delivered a lecture on the topic "Linking Financing for Development and the Paris Agreement's National Determined Contributions for Sustainable Development."
Organized by IDD, this lecture explored the critical intersection of financing mechanisms for development and the climate commitments outlined in the Paris Agreement's NDCs. The discussion provided insights into how financial strategies can support both sustainable development and climate action, emphasizing the importance of integrated approaches to achieve global sustainability goals.
The UN Assistant Secretary-General Mr. Neto examined the commitments made by countries to reduce emissions and adapt to climate change and overviewed the various sources and mechanisms for mobilizing resources for sustainable development.
