Panel Discussion on “Gender and Climate Action: Solutions for Women, by Women
In March 2024, the United Nations Azerbaijan Office organized a groundbreaking panel discussion titled *“Gender and Climate Action: Solutions for Women, by Women”* to highlight the critical role of women in addressing climate change. The event brought together influential leaders and experts to share insights, foster collaboration, and promote gender-inclusive climate solutions.
The panel featured distinguished speakers, including Sadagat Gahramanova, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of Azerbaijan; Vladanka Andreeva, UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan; Nigar Arpadarai, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion of Azerbaijan; Anastasia Lavrina, journalist and broadcaster; and Maryam Majidova, head of “Gender Hub” Azerbaijan and member of the COP29 organizing committee.
The discussion explored the disproportionate impact of climate change on women, emphasizing the importance of empowering women as key drivers of sustainable development. Each speaker shared actionable solutions and inspiring examples of women-led initiatives, offering a roadmap for tackling climate challenges through gender-responsive approaches.
