Training for Media Representatives: Sustainable Development and Climate Change through the Media Perspective
Jointly organized by the Institute for Development and Diplomacy and the Media Development Agency, we hosted the first session of a training series for English-speaking journalists who will actively take part in generating coverages related to COP29 which will be hosted in Azerbaijan.
The first training held under the title “Sustainable Development and Climate Change through the Media Perspective,” was delivered by British media expert Nikola Medic and IDD Senior Fellow Ahmad Humbatov.
The training aimed to equip journalists with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively report on the complex proceedings and critical issues discussed at COP conferences. It brought together seasoned reporters, climate experts, and communication professionals to provide insights into the nuances of covering COP events.
Participants received a thorough briefing on the structure, objectives, and processes of COP conferences, providing essential context for accurate and insightful reporting. In-depth sessions gave them clear vision on the major climate topics discussed at COP, including mitigation, adaptation, finance, and technology transfer, ensuring journalists are well-versed in the critical issues.
Training focused on techniques for compelling storytelling, emphasizing the importance of human-interest stories and the impact of climate change on communities.
