Global Perspectives Lecture Series About COP29

IDD's ‘Global Perspectives Lecture Series’ featured a COP29 discussion with a guest speaker, the Rt. Hon. Baroness Patricia, Scotland KC, Secretary-General of the 6th Commonwealth.
Mr. Tahir Gozel, President of the Tahir Gozel Initiative for Development, also attended the lecture and talked about the importance of COP29 for Azerbaijan.

The event underscored Azerbaijan's commitment to advancing sustainable development and addressing the pressing challenges of climate change.

"Azerbaijan's preparation for COP29 demonstrates its position in facilitating discussions on climate change. This year, Azerbaijan will serve as a critical platform for world leaders, policymakers, scientists, and climate advocates to address the pressing issue of climate change," said Rt Hon. Baroness Patricia.

The speakers mentioned that by preparing to host the most anticipated climate conference of the year, Azerbaijan mobilizes resources to achieve climate goals and sustainable development.

During the event, the nature-based solutions to the adverse effects of climate change and the importance of building resilience in vulnerable communities were also discussed.
