
Roundtable on “Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan: New Perspectives of Partnership and Regional Collaboration” held in Tashkent
22 August 2025, Tashkent - The International Institute for Central Asia, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan, hosted a roundtable discussion titled “Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan: New Perspectives of Partnership and Regional Collaboration.”
The event was held within the framework of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Azerbaijan on July 2- 4, 2025.
The roundtable gathered policymakers, experts, and scholars to exchange views on opportunities for deepening bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, expanding cooperation in priority areas, and advancing initiatives aimed at strengthening Azerbaijan’s engagement with Central Asian states.
Senior Researcher at IDD, Nargiz Azizova, spoke within the panel “Perspectives of Mutually Beneficial Cooperation in Economy, Energy, Education, and Culture.” She highlighted the growing potential for Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan to implement joint projects in education, cultural diplomacy and people to people diplomacy that could serve as a foundation for strengthening of the corridors of resilience in the volatile global context.
The roundtable concluded with an exchange of proposals to further expand Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan cooperation and to reinforce the role of both countries as key drivers of partnership between the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
