The CBS 2023 brings together diplomats and academicians from 20+ countries
From Mexico to Pakistan, we brought together 27 diplomats and academicians from 23 countries. An amazing learning journey has started for the participants of the Caspian Basin Studies Program (CBS).
Dr. Fariz Ismailzade, Director of the Institute for Development and Diplomacy and Vice-Rector of ADA University, welcomed guests at the opening ceremony while emphasizing that the CBS is a platform to explore the economic, political, and cultural paradigms of the Caspian basin states.
Dr. Ismailzade underlined the importance of familiarizing foreign experts with the Caspian countries following the liberation of Azerbaijan's territory.
“The CBS will also be a networking platform for participants who come from Azerbaijan's immediate neighborhood countries, Eastern Europe, and Central and South-Eastern Asia,” added Dr. Ismailzade.
Ms. Aygun Hajiyeva, Deputy Director of the Institute for Development and Diplomacy and Advisor to the Vice Rector of ADA University, delivered an insightful presentation on IDD activities.
While talking about the Program history and background, Ms. Hajiyeva highlighted that the CBS brought together participants from 106 countries in the course of 2011-2023.
The Deputy Director, Hajiyeva, also touched upon the content of the Program while noting that participants will have the opportunity to further widen their horizons on the Caspian basin through an array of comprehensive lectures on the following areas:
- History and Culture
- Economy and Development
- Politics, Religion and Society
- Energy Affairs
- Foreign Policy and Security
- Restoration of Liberated Karabakh and Peace-Building Process in the Region
Within the Program, high-ranking government officials, ADA University faculty, IDD Board of Trustees and staff members, as well as representatives of think tanks will deliver presentations on relevant topics.
Mr. Michal Grodzki, the CBS participant from the MFA of Poland, expressed his first-day impressions after the opening ceremony:
“The CBS is a unique chance for learning about the past, present, and future of the Caspian region.”
In the framework of the Program, the participants will pay a visit to Aghdam to observe the restoration after the liberation. The Program also includes field trips along the Caspian Sea coast.
At the end of the program, participants receive a certificate of completion.
